Action Boy: A little overview

So, I finally managed to get the film finished, as you can see below.

It was quite the learning curve, but a great one to have had. I had my first real experience directing actors, which went quite well, working with children is another ball game entirely though. An experience that I’ll be avoiding for a while.

In general, I think I handled everything, pretty well - although I know my group got agitated at my attitude on the last day, when I was pushing forward that we shoot with guns. There was an opinion that we could have potentially be marked down for using weapons….. Imagine shooting a war scene without without them though. Oh dear. But I suppose that’s my fault for lack of preparation, or expecting to get my vision across in a university project.

But as a final product, I’m very pleased.

I’ve had a pretty great response so far. People seem to be quite moved by the ending - to a much higher degree than I expected. About 2000 people have seen it online, which I’m pretty happy about, as it is a nine minute short. For now, I’m sending it out to Student film festivals, and seeing if i get any response. Wish me luck.
